He was the patron deity of ogres and trolls and was considered one of the interloper gods of giants. His avatar was a hideous humanoid ogre with mottled greenish-brown skin and taloned claws. --- ### Domain and Influence Up until the Spellplague, Vaprak resided within the **Abyss** in the realm of **Shatterstone** on the **524th layer**. After the Spellplague, Vaprak resided within **Nishrek** as an exarch of **Gruumsh**. --- ### Symbols and Icons ![[VaprakSymbol.png]] Vaprak’s symbol was a **taloned claw**. --- ### Worship and Tributes Vaprak was worshipped by: - **Ogres** - **Trolls** - **Ettins** - **Hill giants** Some **tanar’ri priests** were also known to pledge themselves to his service, and some **humans in Thay** worshiped Vaprak as part of their evil pantheon with a temple in **Bezantur**. Occasionally, a **frost giant** would turn to the worship of Vaprak through a ritual involving devouring a willing troll, granting enhanced strength and regeneration. Vaprak’s worshipers favoured him for his **viciousness and destructive power**. --- ### Clergy and Cults Vaprak sometimes rewarded his **shamans with a violent rage**. In other instances, he would send his avatar among his worshipers to assist in conquering a weaker clan or to punish ogres who had chosen to worship the giant gods instead. His clerics favoured the **greatclub** in the Realms, arrayed themselves in **war helmets and blood-red plate mail**, worshiped from dens, and often engaged in **club-bashing rituals**. They ate greedily and fought often. Vaprak never sent omens. --- ### Powers and Abilities Vaprak was **exceptionally strong** and possessed the **regenerative abilities of trolls**. --- ### Treatment of the Faithful Vaprak’s worshipers were expected to embrace **viciousness, physical prowess, and destructive behaviour**. His shamans could be gifted with violent rages, and his avatar sometimes directly aided his followers. --- ### Myths and Legends Some giant tales claimed Vaprak was **descended from Annam All-Father** or derived from one of his children. Later, Vaprak had an affair with **Othea**, leading to the **creation of the ogre race**. Trolls believed Vaprak also bore daughters who became progenitors of their own race. The oni believed both ogres and trolls were descendants of Vaprak, and claimed he sired three sons who became ancestors of oni or ogre mages. In tales involving halflings, Vaprak chased the halfling god **Brandobaris** for many days before being outwitted; Vaprak then moved his ogres to another region. --- ### Encounters with Vaprak Encounters with Vaprak’s influence are tied to his destructive nature through his worshipers (ogres, trolls, ettins, hill giants) and their brutal behavior. --- ### Conclusion Vaprak was a chaotic evil demigod or lesser deity of greed, destruction, frenzy, and violence, patron to ogres and trolls and influential in monstrous pantheons and Abyssal lore.
