Sylvi was found wandering the edge of the swamp as a small child, barefoot and alone, following lights no one else could see. She never explained where she came from. And no one ever managed to make her.
The hag kept her close, sending her into the marsh to gather herbs, track creatures, and move through places others could not. Sylvi took to the wild easily, as though she belonged to it. She learned birdsong, the paths of deer, and which patches of fog meant something old was watching.
She was strange, even among the other children. But never cruel. just elsewhere.
When Sordia Vignti found her, Sylvi was more concerned about what would happen to the swamp after the hag was gone than what would happen to herself.
Now she slips off barefoot into gardens, talks to animals as if conversation is expected, and sometimes vanishes for hours only to return with pockets full of feathers, moss, or things she insists the forest “wanted someone to have.” But slowly, she is learning, People can be part of the wild things worth trusting too.
