- We decide to head to Waterdeep first, which would bring us first through Greyhollow and then Neverwinter. - Spick is lying on a nearby counter, colouring in pictures. - We also spot Fizzle behind the counter. He appears to be rifling through Quincy's stock - He offers Ellette a triangular bottle with orange, glowing liquid inside - referring to it as "bang" - Fergal enquires about potions he left with Quincy to identify, but these were destroyed in Zargathax's attack. Quincy gives him 50GP as recompense. Fergal gives it back to go towards the reconstruction of Alexandria - Quincy wishes to teach Fizzle to cook, but Fizzle does not respect him as he does not have a hat. Ellette suggests asking Jess to make him one - Our journey south will take us to Greyhollow first (passing through Luskan) - where Quincy previously told us that numerous disappearances have been reported - As we near Luskan, we notice our surroundings to be deathly quiet. The main gate to the city has been destroyed - Luskan itself lies in ruins, with just the wizard tower remaining - We all notice flashes of metal glinting through the shadows around us, followed by tiny screeches - This is followed shortly by a flapping noise overhead. An obscured draconic figure flies in the near distance. - After it roars, a sharp rainfall of hailstones starts - tearing through the canopy of our cart. The shards have a greenish hue - We get to the far side of Luskan. The gate is closed, with a metallic ice barring it shut. This ice has a greenish sheen - The ice on the gate looks like it is the result of a breath attack - Fergal attempts to cast Shatter on the iced gate. - There is an explosion from the ice, but the gate remains intact - We notice the dragon again, this time we can tell it is a white dragon - with a rider on its back. It is flying out towards the ocean, northwest - We proceed south towards the docks, finding more destruction along the way. - At the dock, there is a huge amount of dead fish covered with grass and fungus - At the dock, we find a large unbarred gate which we can use to continue - On the other side, the land is dark - appearing charred. - In the near distance, we can see the gates to Greyhollow - Ellette uses Mending to fix the tears in the cart's canvas - We press onwards, towards Greyhollow - This village is eerily quiet, but we do happen across a small number of townsfolk. They scatter, not wishing to speak with us - A single woman grabs her child and flees from us as we continue into the town square - There is a well at the centre of the square, with a large number of faded missing persons posters - The air about us feels thick, and we all feel as if we are being watched - Ellette uses invisibility to spook Graxen as he examines the well, making him believe the town is haunted. Karrisa attempts to push him in but fails - Ellette notices a number of half filled glasses on tables, and a smattering of scratches on door frames - The scratches seem to be small and made by humanoid hands - Ellette knocks on one of the doors but is met by silence. - She makes her way inside, seeing a pair of shoes by the door - She calls out, but there is no response - Outside, the people continue to avoid Karissa, Graxen and Lyra - while staring as Ellette and Fergal enter the dwelling - The townsfolk seem to be confused - as if something is wrong, but they don't understand why - The village is populated primarily by humans - There is a tavern called the Watery Hole - which we head towards - Inside, there is a middle-aged woman behind the bar - she seems equally confused as we enter - She seems deeply flustered as we attempt to speak with her - She claims it is odd to see us - She serves us ale - charging 8CP for 5 tankards - Fergal casts Calm Emotions on the woman - which seems to have no effect. - She shrugs off our questions, consistently offering food instead. She offers potato and pork chops. Karrisa accepts - she scurries off to prepare a meal. - She returns with an empty plate - again seeming further confused - Lyra uses invisibility to follow her into the kitchen - The woman is preparing the food in a worn, dirty kitchen. - With every movement, the woman again becomes confused - lingering as she consistently struggles to remember what she was doing - She returns, charging Karrisa 4CP for the meal. The pork chop is uncooked - The woman gives her name as Elara. - She says the mayor is a good man - identifying him as Mayor Ralston. - The tavern itself seems dilapidated, and Elara seems very protective of a single spot behind the bar. - Graxen asks for food, in an attempt to make her go to the back room again. - Elara leaves, giving Lyra a chance to investigate behind the bar. - Lyra finds a ledger. On the last page are mentions of a number of names of people who have stayed in the tavern. A sentence is cut off midway - A torn piece of paper in the back of the book is smeared with smudged writing reading "song at ni..." - When Alara returns, Fergal asks about rooms in the tavern. They are 10CP a night per room - There are two beds per room - Elara continues to act strange, wiping the counter without a cloth in her hand - As we exit the tavern, Graxen immediately forgets the directions to the town hall - despite having just learned them from Elara - To the right, we notice unfinished preparations for a festival of some description- with half hung banners. - We arrive at the mayor's mansion - being greeted by a short, rotund human - He seems more cognisant than Elara - He refers to Fergal as an "odd fellow" - The mayor denies any knowledge of missing persons - claiming the posters are for an upcoming festival. - This a yearly celebration of Greyhollow - Ellette presses the mayor forcefully but he continues to claim there are no missing people - Lyra fetches a missing person poster from the well - finding scratches in its woodwork - The mayor continues to turn a blind eye, claiming this is "littering" - Graxen does not believe that the mayor is lying - with Ellette continuing to intimidate the man. - He refers to there being a hole. Repeatedly saying "there's a hole" - He denies saying this immediately thereafter - Fergal casts Greater Restoration - but this appears to have no effect - He asks if we have seen the pride of Greyhollow - this being the well - The mayor's doorframe also bares scratches - He claims to live alone - but is wearing a wedding ring - Ellette draws his attention to the ring but he claims to simply like how it looks - Ellette feels a tingle of deja vu as we speak with the mayor - We return to the well - Ellette senses an arcane symbol on the well, which burns her hand. It seems unfinished and feels like a warning to her - Touching it makes her feel the sensation of hunger - As she describes it, the others are able to see it - Lyra can see footprints, leading passed the unfinished decorations - and immediately forgets having noticed this - As Ellette speaks about the symbol, both she and Graxen forget about its existence. Fergal can still see it.
